tamo3
There are a lot of information on this Hybrid Z for coilover conversion. However, for the beginner, it's really hard to understand and sometimes missing data for how much length of the strut tube need to cut. I created PDF file for your memo purpose to avoid mistake. Coilover_Data_sheet.pdf Hope this is useful. Let me know whether I should add/remove from the data sheet. tamo3
Some additional data based on my measurement. '75 280z Front strut Entire length 16-1/4" Tube Length 13-3/4" Upto brake bracket 5" Inside length 14-7/8" Rear strut Entire length 18-3/8" Tube Length 16-1/4" Inside length 18-1/8" ID is about 49.62mm OD is about 55.06mm What I learned that important data is the inside length. The front strut length should be same between 240z and 280z, as well as 260z. Edited June 26, 2013 by tamo3

tamo3
Additional Data: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/106087-280z-coilovers-which-cartridges/?p=992467 TOKICO BZ3012, 3013, 3015, 3016 are all the same shock - same body length, same shock shaft, same total travel, and same damping. Tokico just ships different gland nuts and/or spacers to make different part numbers.

tamo3
Thanks Leon. Bilstein specific data sheet based from the famous Coilover step-by-step thread Coilover_Data_sheet_Bilstein_P30-0032.pdf On his thread, thehelix112 mentioned he added 9/16" with 2-1/4" OD spacer for front shock, but he did not mentioned the length of spacer for rear shock. Comparing with Tokiko, KYB shocks, Bilstein shock is shorter stroke. I wonder whether I need to have longer strut tube compare with TOKIKO / KONI coilover strut tube. I can't find the appropriate inside strut tube length for Bilstein F4-P30-0032. Edited June 27, 2013 by tamo3
tamo3
Ground Control Coilover kit difference: 240z kit 5" sleeves 10" Eibach springs 280z kit 4" sleeves 12" sleeves http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/113548-ground-control-coilover-sleeve-length/?p=1063576 If you want to lower 280z, it's better to get 10" springs instead of 12" forums.hybridz.org/topic/85673-ground-control-coilover-installation-instructions/ i ordered 10in springs for my 280z, and it only lists 12in for mine, guy i talked to at GC recommended 10in ones if i wanted the car even lower. called GC control yesterday regarding my (10in instead of 12in) spring rate and installation instructions on my 280z. since it only lists 12in on the 280z and 10in 240z. the guy i talked to said even though the springs arent as tall, i still should stick to the original instructions and weld the perch 8 inches from the bottom, versus the 240s instructions (7 inches from bottom). tamo3
240z vs 280z strut tube length difference http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/93755-diference-in-stock-strut-length/?p=884341 Inside lengths of the strut tube using a tape measure:240Z Front - 15.125"240Z Rear - 16.750"280Z Front - 14.750"280Z Rear - 18.000" I thought front strut length is same for 240z and 280z, but it looks like 280z is shorter than 240z.
