Techno Toy Camber Plate + Ground Control Coilover kit, need 1.5" shorten or not?

I have been researching the answer of right length of the inner strut tube for coilover kit with T3 camber plate.

 

Based on my understanding the strut section FAQ is based on using factory default strut insulator.

The height of front insulator is about 2" for 280z(as same as 240z)

The rear is 3" for 280z(240z should be 2")

 

The factory default insulator with Ground Control top hat is about 2.5"

 

Techno Toy camber plate bottom part height is 0.5"

 

That means T3 camber plate bottom part with GC hat is about 1". Thus, it's 1.5" shorter than using factory default strut insulator.

 

EMWHYR0HEN mentioned after installing T3 camber plate, the height is dropped 1.5".

John mentioned cut off about 1~2" shorten strut tube.

 

So, if installing T3 camber plate, do I still need to section strut tube to take of any metal?

Threads like this one about the 280z would make me think that you would want to test fit without sectioning first.

I'm on the cross road whether I should install T3 camber plate or not before installing coilover kit.

You do get an additional drop from not using the strut insulator, but you won't gain any additional travel in the strut. You still have to remove the suggested amount from the strut housings if you plan on lowering the car, especially applicable to the front where you run out of suspension travel really quickly.
