socorob
I extended my bad dog rails to meet the rear "frame". Now I can just put the lift or the jack under the rails with no problems. Looks like you're going all the way back with yours also. I wonder why nissan did t go back that extra little bit.
SUNNY Z
UGH gaining a whole new hate / appreciation for sheet metal work. I worked on the drivers floor pan for about 5 hours yesterday, and I'm 95% done. Removed the factory seat supports, stitched the floor to the rail all the way, and cut out the drain plug holes and welded in metal patches. Hope to finish the driver's side and get a good start on the pass. side tonight.
RebekahsZ
I'm a out to have my drain plugs removed too. My left heel always hangs on the forward drain plug.
socorob
I just cut some sheetmetal circles slightly bigger and used body panel glue. Took about 10 min to do the whole car.

Yeah, I just hate the "scabbed" look. I'll probably do this for the remainder though. So damn tedious the other way. Seam sealer FTW! haha Edited March 10, 2014 by SUNNY Z
SUNNY Z
PHOTO DUMP! Driver's side complete Again Another shot from the driver's side: Just a couple spots to fill! SUNNY Z
Welds look nice. Lots of work. You work fast... Thanks... Never fast enough though it seems. Knocked the undercoating off the drivers side inner fender, and started to replace some sheet metal that I'd neglected in the past. Eek. SUNNY Z
Dont you feel sometimes your back where you started!! Somewhat. I have to keep looking at the good progress I've made to get motivated to keep on it though. This car will be on the road by May, mark my words. geno51
LOL I would disagree leaving harder and getting out on joey in the beater bomb and holding him off for awhile is no joke you can drive He sprays the hell out of that thing I think it has run 9.8s Its all about having fun:)
RebekahsZ
If we try to do Drag Week, I will need enough warning to figure out a trailer hitch. Just what I need-ANOTHER reason to drop the damn tank! Or, maybe I could put all my crap on Josey's trailer?? Or, maybe just drive without a passenger seat and put all the extra axles, tools and tires there-but who would keep me awake? Mikey303LSZ
Sunny - What brand and model welder are you using? I've got an old Craftsman 120v with gas and a Tweco gun. Seems to run inconsistent - I get it dialed in and the welds look good (sound of sizzling bacon)then 2 seconds later it seems seems to go out of adjustment. Its a 110/220V machine, but it welds much better on 220 - so thats where I run it.
Mikey303LSZ
Thanks for the info. Looks like the Miller 211 is a much better welder than many out there. According to Popular Mechanics the 211 holds a VERY stable arc. And was clearly the winner in comparison to 5 other welders.

Its nice that you can go do small jobs with 110 as well.
SUNNY Z
Those of you that are facebook friends with me have already seen this, but I thought I'd update. Started to shave the rear bumper in a roll pan fashion. Knocked out 3/4 of it yesterday, hope to finish today. There was a skim coat of bondo over most of the stuff that wasn't behind the bumper, so that was a pain to remove. Also, I'm not sure if there's supposed to be supports to keep the "curl" of this panel, but mine wants to straighten out... so i'll be adding supports. RebekahsZ
Better be careful or you will be doing a paint job next! Get litman to send you pics of the rear "diffuser" he made from the back of an Altima. It is simple and awesome. Might save you some time and trouble on your rear valance and it really looks cool.
