Guest Anonymous
Hi Guys, Can I run a turbo on a stock L-28(1983) motor? The head is a P-79 & the block is a stock flat top piston. I'm going to run stock S.U.'s Let me know guys.... thanks
Guest mongrel
Of course you can! Just get these parts: Turbo, turbomainfold, fuelpump and efi controleunit from the ZXT. Get a complete intake mainfol too, it will have injectors, fuelpressure regulator and sensors. The ZXT has a higer capacity oilpump, but I think yours should do fine. Oh, I´ve heard rumores of exhaustliners melting on turbocarged P79 heads (non turbo ZX), I dont know if this should be of concern on a low output engine. Lockjaw
I hope you are not planning to turbo thru SU's. It is not clear from your post. You can pretty much turbo anything, the question is how long will it last. You will have less margin for error with the flat top engine, so be careful with the boost and timing and you should be ok. I kind of look at things like this. If Nissan thought the flat top piton engine was robust enough, they would not have made a separate piston for the turbo engine. Scottie-GNZ
I would try to find a P90 to lessen the chance of detonation.

awd92gsx
Hmm...I have a stock bottom ended '77 280Z engine...I also have a complete (minus pistons) '83 turbo engine that is dissassembled...if I decided to swap the turbo setup onto the 77 engine where does the oil feed come from? SleeperZ
The oil feed is plumbed into the oil pressure gauge sender. You could probably buy a brass "T" and a banjo fitting and plumb it yourself, or buy a new stock oil line with the compression fitting on one end and the banjo fitting on the other.
