Haniel20
Hey guy I been on a debate to build a z car with a rb25 swap but I have been admiringthe 1st gen celicas. So I was thinking instead of going all out in the z car why not get both and do mostly flares, wheels, suspension, and bolt on's, instead of going all out on a z and you never know I would eventually make monsters out of them but I was thinking still then I'll do simple and visual goodies. What I'm asking is for advice , what do you guys think I should do?
Nelsonian
Here's my take on your proposed plans. If you are even remotely considering going big with the Z in the future, you will most certainly need to address the need for chassis strengthening which should be the first step in preparation to upping power/torque. I have seen and ridden in many z cars without strengthening and only 185-200ish hp that have the rear c pillar leaded seams cracking under the paint from chassis twisting. Suspension and brakes would be next on the plans and the snowball begins to gather in size and speed.
Haniel20
Thanks for the advice and I know that already plan on cage and ect on both because im not going to lie I'm eventually going big on both just in time I don't plan selling any of them EVER!!! Long term goal for the z is rb25det swap and for the 76-77 celica liftback a 1jz swap. If I do both it becomes a long term project. I can do either if I decied one project but like I said if i go simple clean and I can get to great classic rides. Ohh I will drive both I'll divide the two betewwn the whole year. Nelsonian
Nice, I like both of those cars. Create build threads on both and document your progress with lots of pics. Looking forward to seeing these!
Haniel20
The build thread will be fairly simple till we start speaking motor swaps, well the z car is easier because the make mounts and more kits available but you never know what I find out in the Internet. I want a 1jz in the celica liftback but can't find much info on swaps for it. Oh and I had scars before so it will not be my first z car
Nelatl
Have you already found a potential celica to purchase? I regret passing up on a 72 celica a few years back. I search the net every few months and can't seem to find any non hatch cars. If you know of any good places to look let's us know. Here's a pic of a friends car.
