BLKMGK
http://forums.chevytalk.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=EFI/Fuel+Injection+and+Engine+Control+Systems&number=12 There are other forums there too but this one really caught my eye. Converted carb intakes, discussion on the Holley intakes we've talked about, flowbench testing, lot's of GOOD information! This thread in particular was what caught my eye in the search engine but I'm going to be posting and looking through their threads to see if I can get some advice -> http://forums.chevytalk.com/forums/Forum12/HTML/000016.html Right now the Holley ECU is sounding really good with possibly a Miniram or Holley intake. Mikelly
BLKMGK, Good find! I'll be over there doing reseach! All signs are pointing towards the Holley stuff... I downloaded the manual and it looks really sweet. Mike
pparaska
Way to go Jim! Did you happen to see that Doug F that posts there is an engineer and has an email address at Holley.com? Sounds to me that he has a big hand in designing their EFI intakes! He's talking about offering a killer SBC intake for high horsepower engines. grumpyvette has been very helpful on the "performance" forum on chevytalk.com, as have others. If you have high-po chevy questions, those two forums on that site are excellent, IMO. BLKMGK
Ya', I've seen those posts and read as far back in the archives as they keep. I'm about to dump a GIANT post on them and hope that I can get some help I've spent since Friday afternoon researching this and need to figure this out before I go nutz
Guest JAMIE T
I was glad to hear Jim mention the MiniRam intake, I can't believe no one talks much about it. Also the Lingenfelter SuperRam is a great intake. Either one will make huge power on a 383 and have a low profile for great hood clearance. BLKMGK
Jamie, the MiniRam is $899 +$190 for rails and THEN add $300+ for a darned TB I'd not be surprised if this isn't one of the reasons why so few people consider it. It's certainly one of the reasons why I'm a bit gunshy Guys, a favor please. Long time ago I posted everything I knew about my motor including cam specs etc. I'm currently having trouble digging up those specs and am frantic. I'd liek to be able to post this information for folks trying to help me with an ECUintake selection. Does anyone still have that information? It was run through some DesktopDyno software by at least one person. I cannot find the post - have we dumped or lost any? Heeelp! Still hunting my envelope with receipts and whatnot but.... Guest JAMIE T
True Jim. I am looking at the Commander 950 multi point system in Summit for $2299.95. How much is just the Holley EFI without the manifold? What I am thinking is to get a Mini Ram, and then get the Commander 950 for GM TPI. I am not sure how much that combo will cost. It would be a strong performer, and you could still use an off the shelf centrifigal supercharger or turbo for a common TPI application. BLKMGK
Check it out guys, the FASTFelPro ECU uses a production wideband O2! This must be the same one I'd heard of on Hondas - price is about right ($300). That means the caution I'd been given about them only lasting 40hours is bogus in this case! Hrm, I may move my sights a bit upscale and shoot for the wideband option. Imagine being able to tune based upon A/F ratio There's a datalogging module too. I'm going to check and see if the DFI GEN7 uses a similiar type O2 and try to track down demo software for each...
grumpyvette
you might want to look at these threads too http://forums.chevytalk.com/forums/Forum12/HTML/000124.html http://forums.chevytalk.com/forums/Forum12/HTML/000005.html http://www.jimsperformance.com/portinj.html

Posted this thread and some of the other URLs over on TurboBuick.com for another guy who's also trying to figure out what works best for his app. Nice to have you over here, welcome!
