Questions for all Z's help guys..

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I'm a new guy in the site, very interesting I love it great projects. Alright I decided to sell my 2nd car and I recently sold it and now I have 1 car my daily, but anyways reason I sold my other car it was to collect some $$ and to find me a good project in the Datsun Family. So I have plenty of Cash and I'm looking to purchase a Datsun 240z , now my questions are.

All Z's 240, 260, 280, are all the same in size dimension length and all like doors, hoods, interior size/dimension or is it 240's thinner and smaller than 260's and 280's, or hatch compartment are much smaller for the 260's and 280's than 240's. Reason I ask I'm looking to buy a Datsun 240z not fully restore no fun, I want to get my hands dirty so I'm looking for the most closest stock 240z that needs some TLC now, any parts body, hood, doors, hatch, fenders, or engine parts or anything from the 260's and 280's can be use for the 240z. any help, tips or comments about those Z's I will appreciate since I'm looking to buy a nice 240z with very little rust or no rust, can have superficial rust no problem but no rust that needs cutting and welding with fresh metal dealing cancer rust.

Sorry for my english grammar ..

thanks for your time and providing help..

All of the cars share body panels, hood, and fenders. The bumpers do differ from year to year. The dimensions stayed the same and the space in all is about the same. There are minor interior differences between the different years. There was a 2+2 version of the 260 and 280z  that included a small rear seat.

Here is a link to a Wiki article that helped me understand some of the differences. It might help you better understand what you're after.
