richie2619
I bought these custom aluminum caliper brackets from Jim Cook Racing, in '03, just before I parked my car. So I never got around to installing them. They're designed to convert the Z drums to '79-'83 ZX calipers. I'm wondering if anyone else has a set of these and if they're compatible with the '85-'88 Maxima calipers. I have a set of ZX calipers but the pads seem awfully puny. I realize the front brakes carry 75 to 85% of the load. I'm just trying to get some feedback from people who've been where I am now I've Googled Jim Cook but it appears that They're not around any more. m1ghtymaxXx
Well 79-81 calipers and 82-83 calipers are different. A good start would be to see which they fit. If they're for 82-83, let me know if you'd be interested in selling them! Edited April 10, 2014 by m1ghtymaxXx
richie2619
Which ever year that has the thick, steel plate that encircles the caliper. I have those too.

I believe that's the early (79-81) caliper. I have a pair of late ZX calipers, but it doesn't seem like anyone makes S30 brackets for them anymore. Nissan did - searching the junkyards for Maxima brackets. Here is the shopping list: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/38499-brake-upgrade-faq/ If I remember correctly these brackets required some machine work to fit properly, the cost of that and the fact they'd be impossible to find in my neck of the woods meant I never really considered them all that viable an option.
