nacitar
I have both a manual and an automatic 1976 280z... both should have an R200, right? Even the automatic. In the FAQ, http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/49194-differential-cv-lsd-hp-torque-r160-r180-r200-r230-diff-mount/ I see Longnose R200 -weight 76 lbs - Came in 260Z 2+2, 280Z manual, 75-76 automatic and 2+2, S130, Z31, 200SXT But I read elsewhere that automatic Z's didn't have the R200, but I can't remember where. The faq seems to imply they both have R200s, and I'd just like confirmation that this is correct/that I'm reading this correctly.
cgsheen
Why not refer to the Bible - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/280z/1976/ General Information (Section "GI"), page 2.
stravi757
yes it should have a r200. you could just check, the r200 looks distinctly different from the r180
djwarner
If I remember correctly, 280Z automatics through '76 had an R180, 3.545 differential. Checking the parts microfiche, it appears the 2+2 may have had the R200 though.
cgsheen
Good Grief. GI-2.pdf That's straight from the 1976 Factory Service Manual. Although you can't be absolutely sure someone didn't swap in something else over the years. Like "stravi757" said though, the R200 looks quite a bit different than the R180. Especially in the rear cover. Edited May 7, 2014 by cgsheen
