Diamond racing 15" wheels over AZC 4-pot brakes: anyone done it?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for anyone with experience fitting 15" Diamond Racing wheels over the AZC 4-pot brake kit.

I want to go to steelies for my landspeed wheels so I can run Moon discs and be sure to pass tech as it relates to exposed wheel stud length.

I currently run 15" wheels, but I don't exactly know how the barrel of the steel rim necks down as the wheel approaches the stamped center.  The AZC kit requires a FULL 15" inside diameter all the way to the wheel mounting flange.

Hoping to get advice from actual Diamond Racing wheel users, try to limit speculation or random advice regarding wheel fitment.  Thanks.

A friend has had two of the AZ big brake kits and they fit under the 15x10 diamonds up front and the 15x14 diamonds on the rear.  These are the 12.5 inch kits I believe.  They had Superlite front calipers and dynalites in the rear.  If you're looking at 6 piston calipers or 13.25 or bigger rotors I'm not sure.  For Diamond wheels they often have an inner lip that will interfere if you try and run too much backspace.  Luckily when this wide you often miss it.  I have one of the 15x10s here if you want me to try and measure it or send pics.

I have some 15x14 Diamonds that Cary sold me and they don't clear JSK 12.2" brakes (very similar to the AZC kit), need a 1/2" spacer. With the spacer, no problem. If you go to Bassett, you can ask them for a "deep bell" and they'll make them to fit without a spacer, and they're better wheels too. You might be able to get the deep bell from Diamond too, FWIW.

I'm actually looking at Marsh Racing Wheels MRW (they were the first vendor to pop up on a google search for "landspeed racing wheels." MRW adds dzus fastener tabs and sells Moon discs as a reasonably priced package. I asked about Diamonds because I see a lot of chatter about them and the design looks to be the same or similar. JMortensen, I will check on the "deep bell" option and will remember your offer tube80z. I'm looking at 4.5" BS in back and probably 2" BS in front.

15x10s should easily clear with that on the front.  I think mine are 3 or 3.5 on the backspacing.  They have the bell but it does clear the AZ brakes but barely.  Some wheels needed a small spacer and those may have been the 3.5s.  It was a few years ago and memory isn't always the best.
