260 F/P relay's?

Anyone know how to get power to the electric fuel pump on a 260 all the time? I know there are two relays, one that senses alternator voltage and one that senses RPM (400 rpm) but I don't know where they are. Can I bypass them ? I would like to use the wiring harness that is in the car instead of running a new feed to the back of the car for a Carter elecrtic pump. Thanks in advance.

I have done alot of removing of unnessary wiring / relays!

I`m using the original wiring from the removed relay back to the pump and found an avalible wire with power(with the key in the ON position)and connected the two! *This still runs thru the fuse block*

Use could just as easy run a wire from fuse panel to a switch to power the pump!

Just make sure that the pump has the correct fuse amp rating! Look at the fuse block cover for the pump relay and use the same amp fuse *UNLESS THE PUMP YOU ARE USING CALLS FOR A DIFFERENT SIZE FUSE*

All the wires that run to the back of car can be found running down pass side under carpet below pass door!

The 260Z fuel pump relays are located on the relay bracket mounted behind the passenger side kick panel.

There are several other relays (horn, wipers, rear defogger) on this bracket so use the wiring color code to identify the fuel pump relays.

The pump relays have the yellow, black, black/white stripe and a green/white stripe wires. You need to short the black/white stripe wire to the green/white stripe wires on each relay.

!!WARNING!!

Remember, you are disabling a safety feature! One of the relays is to shut off the fuel pump if the engine stops turning with the ignition key in the ON position. If you have a accident and the fuel line is cut, then you do not want fuel feeding a potential fire.

The only real problem I have with the stock set up is that the engine often cranks for a long time at startup (until you have RPM/oil pressure/etc.) What I plan on doing with my 260Z and my wife's ZX is to put in a momentary (spring loaded, push ON, release OFF) switch to power the RELAY, not the pump directly, for initial start up. You hold the button or toggle switch for a few seconds to charge the system for quick start, release and start.

Objections bypassed, safety features still in place.

My approach.............
