DERKA
So my friend and I are going to start a Datsun 280z project drift car. I wanted to use a Nissan Titan VK56 engine but I dont have any sort of assurance that the engine will actually fit PROPERLY, Without any hood adjustments. I want to know weather or not it fits and if it doesnt, I would like to know what i could do to make it fit. If there are literally no other ways to allow fitment, I would highly appreciate some other v8 engine and 5-6 speed transmission combinations that i could use instead of the original plan. Thank You. 78zstyle
Takes a lot of work. Why a VK56? Don't get me wrong it's a great engine, but for the amount of effort, it's probably not worth it. Just stick in an LS1/T56 and be done with it.
socorob
Or if the LS isn't available in your area, the Q45 engine may be easier for you to obtain. Check the V8 swap section and see what people have done vs what you have available.

NewZed
Search around for VK56 swaps and see what cars they fit in. Here's a 350Z swap, with a little bit of a hood clearance problem. Here's a thread for a 240SX swap. It's in Stanceworks though, so the engine will be taller than the car when he's done. http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/showthread.php?s=57eb119f964788241869ccde76ca63c6&t=50721&page=2 Edited August 3, 2014 by NewZed
freb_mc
I always wanted to see that swapped into a Z, update if it happens man
Nite_Grind
I use to work for Nissan. Let's just say you can get a lot more for less, and more reliable with a LS123456789x swap. Plus your better off choosing the chevy engine. Tons of aftermarket support for it. Nothing wrong with your dream/vision, so unless you plan to pave they way and have a lot of resources at your disposal you might want to shy away from it. All of these requirements are just the beginning: Fabricator / Welder CNC machinists Wiring specialists Tuner Big bank roll / tons of diy time
