radiator help for ls1 280z!

Recommended Posts

So I have accumulated all the parts necessary for my swap(at least I thought so).

Engine n tranny

New clutch kit and slave cylinder

Gas tank

Jci kit with drove shaft and a/c

Pcm & harness sent out to get reworked

headers from jtr

Problem is I ordered JTR's radiator kit also with mounts but I was emailed last week that they no longer have them!

I didn't realize I got an email from them last week regarding this but I was in a rush ordering loads of parts before my trip to seattle then Europe. I wanted to have everything shipped to my buddy who's doing the swap so he can start on it this weekend. I'm 2 weeks from being home and I need to order a radiator kit asap. Preferably with fans n shroud suggestions? I did a search and folks are championing the champion 3 core. Any help would be tremendous thanks.

Take your 280Z radiator and have it recored to a 4-row instead of a 3-row.  That is what JCI did or my car which was the prototype for their components.  Any reputable radiator shop should be able to do it. I've been running mine for over 10 years now and have never had an overheating issue.  I ran it in 110 degree Texas weather, stop n go traffic with the AC running full bore and one fan relay out and it still never overheated. It also solves any mounting issues and you can go back to JCI and tell them you want the hoses for the radiator they used to provide.  Either they'll send them tell you or they'll tell you what they were using so you can get your own.  Say "Hi" to John Radevich for me when you talk to them and let him know his prototype is still running strong.

I assume the confusion is coming from looking up the part number online and it saying "upper or lower hose", but since these are coming off another application that happens to work with the setup we have in our cars, it doesn't matter if it says upper or lower, just get the ones you need for your car.  Does that make sense?

Savage, that makes sense. But when Socorob says "thats the one i used on the lower on a gto ls1", it gets confusing. I asked him about 2 different hoses, that's why. I don't know what "that" one is. To me, it wasn't so clear and concise.
