Mrtsunami20
First time doing a write-up so bare with me... I autocross my series-1 240z last season and needed to upgrade my rear brake, but did not wanted to go to Willwood because I am running a smaller wheel, so I contacted Edan at Silvermine Motors to get his Stage 4 Rear Brake Kit. I currently have one inch Willwood master cylinder and Toyota S12+W front brakes. Shipping was fast and prompt, customer service was great. Complete install 4 - 6 hours, depending on skill level. The kit comes with all necessary hardware and instructions. Stub axles needs to be removed for the install. Mounting brackets needs to face towards the front of the car. Caliber mount needs to be installed next, see picture below. Install brake pads guides; grease as necessary. Next, place caliber on where the bleed nipple faces down. It's designed that way to use stock e-brake. Bleeding caliber will have to be done unbolted from the mount, then placed back on the mount, then adjust e-brake accordingly. Edan states the kit won't fit 15" wheels, but my Atara Racing 15x10.5 - 32 offset clear by a quarter of an inch. I'm sure I missed a lot of details, but the instructions include in the kit are very clear. I am excited to test out the kit on my SCCA car. For anybody that wants to follow how the kit does, feel free to follow the link to the car's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-DragonballZ/701471269934147 Here's the link to the brake kit : http://www.silverminemotors.com/datsun/datsun-240z/brake-upgrades/stage-4-rear-big-brake-kit Any questions, feel free to ask. GeeZ
I have Eden's brakes on my '78. He's pretty prompt and helpful, if a little disorganized. I see he has added other parts. Wish him the best.
Mrtsunami20
Yea, Edan is a nice guy. He takes pride in his work and the market he supplies
Benjamin
So how do the brakes feel? Balance well with the Toyota front brakes?
Mrtsunami20
I have yet to track them , the season hasn't started yet. But they feel great with the 1 inch master pedal feels fine. And I'm sure the brake bias will pair better with my front brakes better then my old disk setup
Mrtsunami20
I have yet to test the limits yet. You can follow the car if youre interested on how they perform
S30 SPL
Did you do anything to the proportioning valve? And since you have the 1" Wilwood, I assume there is no check valve for the rear brakes right?
z-ya
I tried to install mine last night, and all went well until bolting the calipers on. The e-brake cable bracket points directly at the CV companion flange and hit it. I see from your photos Mrtsunami20 that the bracket point straight up. id you have to swap any of the e-brake brackets?
heavy85
What rear spoiler is that?
