stav2201
I have a 1975 280z with the coilover suspension conversion (ground control brand). I do not have a camber kit installed nor any other after market suspension components other than bushings. My car is sitting about 6'3/4 above the ground in the rear from the frame rails. Does anyone have any experience with suspension geometry and switching to the 240z strut insulators? By switching to the 240z strut insulators I would allow more travel for my shocks and be able to raise my springs slightly improving ride quality, correct me if I am wrong... Does anyone have any first hand experience with this swap and would it be beneficial for for my car? I use my car as a daily driver but do drive it fast and love to hit the corners. casper9182
My guess is the car will sit lower if you switch to the 240z insulators, If you raise the car after the install then your strut would be resting more extending. I do understand that struts do have a "sweet spot." Are you worried your struts are not being fully utilize as is? No 1st hand experience just my .02 cents. z-ya
I used 240Z insulators in the rear of my 280Z because the euro springs I was using had the back of the car too high. The 240Z insulators dropped the rear at least an inch, which gae the car a much better stance.
loganpratt22
Does this only work on the rear? What mods/swaps can I use to equally lower the front if I swap the 240 strut insulators onto the rear?
Kevin.pk
Front isolators for the 240z and 280z are the same.
jhm
As Kevin.pk indicated, there's no easy swap of OEM parts that will lower the front end like you can on the rear. Cheapest solution for you would be camber plates, even if you run them in the 'zero' position. These are the cheapest I've found, but there are lots of really good kits out there: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MK1-PillowBall-Bearing-Strut-Upper-Mount-For-Coilover-Kit-Mounts-Plates-240Z-/161203739866?fits=Model%3A280Z&hash=item25887ddcda&vxp=mtr Silly question: do you not want to lower the front end via the coilovers, for some reason? If the strut tubes are not sectioned, you may have to go this route if you want to retain suspension travel while lowering the car. Sorry if this is not the answer you were hoping for.
