74Adam
Quick question: can the lock cylinders be removed without taking out the glass? I ask because the FSM seems to indicate that you have to. Oh, this is a 78 model, BTW. thanks Edited April 25, 2015 by 74Adam
Six_Shooter
I've done it without removing the glass on my '73, but it was quite a bit more difficult than out was without the glass in the way. It would actually take less time to remove the glass than it did to swap the lock cylinder with the glass in place IIRC.
stravi757
It is no problem to do with the glass in place. I removed them in minutes once the door panels were off.
74Adam
Stravi, what did you use to grab the clip? It's so tight to get your hand around the guide bar for the window. Small needle nose pliers?
NewZed
It's pretty easy on the early 280Z's, I've done it on both sides of my 76 with glass in place. You can't see what you're doing, so memory of what you were just looking at is required. But 78 has the newer door style. Might be more cramped. 74Adam
Yeah, I had a 260 years ago and I don't remember it being as cramped but I don't know about the earlier 280's.

I used pliers and a long thick flat head screw diver. Try spraying a little WD-40 on the clip holding the lock cylinder in place if its difficult to wiggle out.
