M_Dragan
Hi guys, I have a leak in my headers. I pulled them off on the weekend to replace the gaskets and I found that the heads appear to be the stock SBC square port but the headers are circular. The gasket I pulled off the headers are circular as well. Should I replace the gaskets with the same circular gaskets that were in there originally? I talked to a guy at summit and he said to match the gasket to the heads, the problem is that the square port gaskets are bigger corner to corner than the circular ones. Any help would be appreciated.
marinez
I suggest Remflex gaskets, matched to your heads. They should work fairly well as long as your flanges aren't warped.
Miles
You didn't mention what type of headers you have. But you said that the headers are circular which suggests that you have block hugger style headers such as Hooker etc........................................ I have Hooker block hugger headers on my SBC 350. I have used the oval shaped header gasket for about 16 years. For example: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-5917 Other examples: https://www.holley.com/products/gaskets/header_gaskets/parts/10891HKR The attached picture is what I am currently using with my round port Hooker headers. Miles
Here is another possible solution: Remflex graphite exhaust gasket p/n 2004 fits SBC 350 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rfl-2004?cm_mmc=ppc-google-_-search-_-brands-_-keyword&gclid=CjwKCAjwwo7cBRBwEiwAMEoXPO0p6x0IaE3z78g6S_WaqfsQ62XlYavgtN0P7ds9oKQ2nkgcYqvh4xoCzkYQAvD_BwE
