mate i wish i knew how to post photos here cos ide show you my turbo off that exact same motor full of oil! i dont think theres anything wrong with it thow. another question is how on earth are you going to get a rb box to bolt up! if you can i need you to tell me strait away! i have one of these lovely motors but have no gearbox im not spending the large cash to get a tt box so help please!

you might notice the starter goes along the gearbox rather than down the side of the motor

the turbo is a ceramic ball bearing turbo simerler to a rb25's (but a tiny bit bigger im told) unit it will only take 14psi b4 the wheels breaks up ,well eventually.this post will be ultra long so ill stop now let us know how you go for sure thow!

"the box is one off 1 180sx with VG30ET bell housing...it that helps, but you can bolt up a T5 and heaps of other boxes" hey? i got told all that bolts on is the z32 box! duped or what? so youre saying a z31 bell housing bolts up then?

i dont know if the blocks the same as a vg30e but they are iron with alloy heads they definatly positivly fit in z30 2+2 because ive seen one with my own eyes

I have mine (VG30DET) in a 260z and there is heaps of room

 

i know my box is not a Z32 one coz it didnt cost $1200 im not sure what my bell housing is off, some sort of VG30 (has VG30 written on it)

the turbo wont be a problem in australia hehehe lucky us but..... the bloody mounts are off set so one is further forward than the other(left to right) can be a problem still after gearbox confirmation too fellers anyone actually bolted a 5 speed on one yet and if so what was it and show me the pics

mine is now.....bolted up the gearbox posted before is bolted up.....just call some importers and tell them ya story and they should help.....dont pay 1200 for the box etc... i paid 275 and thats it...

Hey all

 

I'll tell you what I know about this engine...

 

The VG30DET block and internals are identical to the VG30DETT's block and internals. Same part number and everything. The only difference is in the heads or manifolds. This engine and the VG30DETT are completely different than the SOHC VG30ET engines from the Z31's. The heads are completely different and the block is different because of the coolant passages being in different spots.

 

The VG30DET can take serious power, I think 600hp on stock internals is the figure most often quoted. I saw a white Z31 drag car at Englishtown run a 7 something at 170ish mph using this engine.
