rjwill
Hey guys i know this has been asked 100000 times but i havent seen one to my extent. Basically the only lights that do work are blinkers. The headlights did work for a very short period of time. I have a 75 280z. I have checked fuzes i have rebuilt the combo switch i bought a "newish switch" rebuilt that one too. Nothing. I am not an expert. the PO did something funky with the fuzeable links he ran a hot wire to one of the blocks. I ran a continuity test from the right side of the fuze to the white and red wire and it checked out. not sure the best way to test ground or where it runs too. dash has not been replaced or remove. I have checked the brown and white 10 pin plug but didnt see much. All the bulbs are new. Once i get this fixed i plan on swapping out the LED to take some stress off. O and the whippers work. Sjoost
Do you have a running light setup? If yes, what happens with the blinker when you turn the light switch on to lowest setting and turn blinker on? Prob something with your multi switch. On mine, my lights fail also, because the red/white wire is bit dodgy. I can actually turn the solder connection on the switch a bit, en it starts to work. Cheers. Joost Update: so I’ve traced about every wire I couldn’t. Find a break. I test all the wires with multimeter. All were around .01-.03 on resistance. (Not electrical expert) if I run a hot wire to the red wire on the fuze box all the lights work. I can’t turn the headlights off at the switch but the switch will turn off taillights. There is also a 6 prong connector under the steering column with the black and white wire I believe ignition. If I twist that I hear a click and the a/c fans kick on and the tail lights will work. The solder joints break pretty often. when you ran the hot wire you bypassed the switch so that's a clue. The wires on the top are where it breaks. Talking about red wires and black and white wires kind of shows that you're not using a wiring diagram. You should get one. It will help. 76 is probably close if you can't find a 75. There are small diagrams in the Body Electrical chapter. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electrical.htm https://www.classiczcars.com/files/category/1-wiring-diagrams/ https://www.classiczcars.com/files/category/13-280z/
