KiD-ViD
I am going to swap a chevy 383 into my 240. I have been looking for a supercharger that will fit under the stock hood. I am trying to make this the ultimate sleeper. I have seen superchargers for TPI engines that look pretty low but if I dont have to go TPI then I dont want to. thanks. Guest JAMIE T
The carb box with the Vortech is still pretty tall. I think John Scott used a Procharger on a 4.3L V6, It was probably carbed. I don't know about the stock hood though. I would go EFI anyway. Darius runs a 383 stroker chevy LT1 and a Procharger D1. It fits under the hood nicely. The LT1 intake is super low profile. If you already have a motor, then you could get a TPIS Miniram(pricey though) It is much like the LT1 intake. If you do plan on going Supercharged, then you will be spending plenty of money anyway. John Scott
Procharger fits under the hood and need no air box for carb, just a low profile hat. Fits closer than most aircleaners. I think the big problem is finding room for the compressor (in the JTR position) since it ends up in the middle of the strut tower. We know they can fit in other engine positions, (Darius) or some of the new reverse rotation compressors might offer new mounting solutions. KiD-ViD
where are pictures of Darius' Z so I can see where he mounted his? I dont have a motor as of yet so I am debating the TPI. If I go carbed I wont need an inter/aftercooler and there wont be electronics to mess with like there would be if I went TPI. but then again TPI will fit better and it seems to be more efficent.
