Heavy Z
Hello all, I've decided to ditch the rams horn exhaust manifolds in favor of some block huggers on my 327. So far from reading various posts, it seems that not all block huggers fit on the Z without work. Those that appear to fit okay are the flowtechs and hookers, is this true? How about the ones summit makes, or are they built cheap like their price? Any other ideas? Thanks, Brett
DavyZ
Brett, the Summit headers are now actually brand name headers (Flowtech?) unlike the way they used to be. I bought some about 7 years ago and then had them powdercoated. I think they will last and they look great. I also have 'Stage 8' brand lacking nuts to hold them down and they ALL fit fine on there. If you really want to spend some big dollars, you can't go wrong with Sandersons. Always make sure you buy powdercoated headers (or have them done) to keep that investment alive & looking good for years. Rusty headers are a thing of the past. Tim240z
Brett, I have a set of those Summit headers that I am not using (made up some custom ones instead). They fit fine, except a bit tight for angle plug heads and fouled with my knock sensor on the LT1. If you want them, let me know...make offer. Guest Anonymous
I just bought the Hooker longtubes 1 5/8 from summit they look great but the motor hasn't been dropped in yet, hopefully by the beginning of next week. I have to relocate the trans. cooler lines, and the cool part is they sent the ceramic coated versions when I paid for the non-coated. denny411
I`ve been looing into using imca style headers from Schoenfield. the headers of choice seem to be either sch162b or sch162. My idea is to use fenderwell style headers to reduce heat around the oil pan, transmission and starter. http://www.pitstopusa.com/SCHADJUSTABLEIMCAHEADERS.asp or http://www.pitstopusa.com/SCHIMCAHEADERS.asp The idea is to invert the headers and run them throught the inner fender behind the strut tower, but ahead of the master cylinder. Guest Anonymous
Not sure what swap kit I have because I bought it with a 305 in it. Looking at forth motor now, just call summit I believe the only kit available was for 70-77/78 one or the other. tell summit hooker headers datsun whatever, they were 315.00 uncoated the primary for #1 I believe is cut and slips on, they really look great can't wait to get it runnin. 1 5/8 pri. 2 1/2 collector . But also Motorsport Auto has long tubes for the 70-77 280 they have 1 5/8 AND 1 3/4 pri. sizes available for a lot cheaper than the Hookers like 290 something for the 1 3/4 but I don't know collector size, flange thickness, definatly uncoated.
