Jason81NA,82RBtt
Can a Stainless steel O2 bung be welded to a standard 280zx pipe? thanks JasonRB260ZX
Guest Anonymous
Use a wire welder with argon mix with either regular wire or.... stainless wire may be best. a small spool of stainless wire is not that expensive
johnc
Stainless wire - 309L is the best for dissimilar materials.
240Z Turbo
309L is good for mild steel to stainless, but isn't the exhaust crap cast iron? If so, you need a nickel rod tig or stick. The O2 bung is not load sensitive so most anything will be fine. If is is mild steel(exhaust) to 304 then JohnC is correct and if it is 321 to mild steel then a 347 rod is preferred. Mudge
He said pipe though not manifold, if they were cast iron pipes it would weigh alot more
Pop N Wood
Cast iron or mild steel, you could braze a SS bung on either.
johnc
Most of those bungs are 304. If its cast iron I would still recommend a stainless filler. Its ductile enough to work as long as the part is completely pre-heated to 600 degrees and then slowly cooled (overnight).
Guest Anonymous
I would do a 304 SS flange, on both ends and then ss bolt together for racing strength.
