Moridin
Did anyone watch trucks this last weekend? I believe it was project Copperhead that he was working on and he had an interesting exhaust setup going in. He had a Y pipe (one on each side) hooked up with one part going to the muffler and everything, while the other went to an open side pipe. He had some electronic slider/openers to basically "uncork" the exhaust on demand from the cabin. I apologize in advance for any Harley people here, but I get really tired of all the damn bikes running around here that are insanely loud. I'd love to pull up next to one, uncork mine and give them a taste of their own medacine. I know this is hypocritical, but I hate the damn things. I've thought about following them to their house and blasting something extremely loud. I hear them every once and a while in the middle of the night, and especially when they are coming out of the bar next to my work. A few of them step on it just to be noisy and swerve in and out of traffic. Sorry to go on here, but kinda needed to vent. I also apologize for those that get a bad name from these few. Anywho, I thought the exhause idea was a cool one and wanted to mention it.
SleeperZ
Yeah, I saw it. Pretty nifty design, but they were advocating uncorking it on the street for your occasional street race Then when you cruise by the cops, have it remuffled. That's going to be a monstrous setup, but I haven't seen any suspension tricks on that yet to stick all that torque that thing will churn out. And gads the money they are sinking into that thing, custom billet brackets, complete crate engine, custom driveline parts I'm sure the sponsors are grinning. yo2001
I saw the episode with Duramax Dyno test. That was sweet.
Guest thinkmonkey
If you want a cheaper setup (The Doug's Headers cutouts are are almost 500 bones) check out Quicktime cutouts ( http://www.quicktimeperformance.com ). You can cork up the dumps with a 3 point exhaust cap if it ever leaks. -David
mobythevan
I got the chance to best a harley rider in the noise department. I was bringing my van home with new 355 installed and open rams horn manifolds. He was crossing an intersection and I gave it a rev as he came by. The look on his face was priceless , he probably had to go home and tell his harley "its gonna be ok, we are still louder than most". Nothing against harley riders, if you can afford one of those you must have more money than me.
Georgia Flash
Yep I saw the truck. It would be cool if you could turn on the tube one saturday and see those guys dropping a V-8 into a Datsun! I would love to have a video of this process. Does anyone know of any around that I may purchase? Hey that would be a great market. Make videos of how to's on the V-8 Datsun. Moridin
I totally agree. I'm hoping that we get some more car shows goin on. There are not enough tuner shows. The only ones I know of that are any good are HP TV and Trucks. I haven't watched that much of 2NR TV yet. I think an old 240Z with a V8 or some other type of install. That would be awesome. I don't advocate the street racing either. I just don't like the damn hogs runnin around with unbaffled exhaust puttin out more noise than a jet. If you would like to help TNN out with automotive TV (They call it the Powerblock) than visit PowerblockTV and take their survey.

Try living right next to Milwaukee. I am NOT looking forward to the big celebration coming up. Sleep will be non-existant. I have to admit that Harleys are cool and all, but the owners think it's mandatory to put straight pipes on it. I like those electric cutouts, but the price is just to high. Has anyone looked at the cable operated ones? Anyone installed a cable operated one? !M!
Georgia Flash
At the last police department I worked for we had a guy that knocked the baffles out of the exhaust on his brand new police bike! He did it with a long srewdriver. The sad thing is the department had to know about this and did nothing. There were several citizen complaints about the idiot with the loud pipes but nothing was ever done. He would do burn outs in the parking deck for christ sake! That's just one reason that I'm glad that I do not work there anymore.
JoshB 240Z
Stacey David, the host of Trucks, actually owns a 240Z. You can check it out at his website linked below. The pictures of his Z are about 3/4 of the way down the page. Josh http://www.staceydavid.com/early.htm
Guest thinkmonkey
Cable operated ones absolutely suck ass. I concinvced my ricer friend to put them on his 4 banger and they sealed about as well as awet paper bag. Loud closed, loud open. They suck. I like the powerblock. Even the Super2nrtv is pretty good (not as goofy as high rev tuners) and they actually have some PERFORMANCE cars on that. 800 hp supra's, RWD, Skylines. Stuff that matters, not as much rice/FWD. Moridin
I haven't heard anything about cable operated ones. That would be pretty cool though. Might be able to do something with some an industrial plumbing slider attached to a cable and/or servo of some type. That's way cool that the Trucks guy has a 240Z. That guy knows what's up with automobiles.
