Darrel
First experience with these things, wasn't so bad. I pounded the first one out, mushroomed one end a little. Nothing running a die over it won't fix. Second one, I decided to make my own tool. Less than $10 in parts, a welder, 10 mins of wrenching and the second one is out. I know dan bethae ( ?? ) makes a tool, although he is out of stock right now.
Mike C
Congrats. Its nice to have a positive first experience... If you work on many of these cars, at some point you will have a miserable one. I broke Dan's tool twice before I finally got the last set I did apart. Heat-pound-heat-pound...soak...Heat-pound-heat-pound and so on for days off and on. Sheesh. Do you have a pic of your tool? Just curious to see how it compares to Dan's.
Darrel
No pics yet, I had just finished it today. Looking at dan's removal tool, I don't quite understand how it works. At least looking at the one pic I have seen.
Darrel
Have pics posted on zdriver. http://www.zdriver.com/rides/detailride.php?vehId=433 It's pretty simple and it worked for me.
blueovalz
Dan's tool works the same way. You screw the nut/threaded rod assembly onto the pin, and then use a washer/nut assembly to draw the threaded rod/pin through the larger pipe.
