80LS1T
Ok today in the shop (tech college) me and my partners were working on the "Beat the Heat" drag car rear end(Ford 9"). Well we were just cruising along minding our own business when this other guy in our class comes over to us and says hey look over there...So we look to where he was pointing and we see one of our other students asking the teacher if he can bend his rear spring back!!! Now is probably when you are wondering what happen to his spring?! Well first of all he has a 199x Cavalier Z24 (yeah he thinks it's fast ). So he got lowering springs for it and then decided that it just wasnt low enough... so he takes a torch to them and "lowers" it some more(not in the shop today but he must have done it recently)!!! Now you know what a torch does to a spring, right? Yeah the top of his spring did a 90 degree bend and was now totally unusable! I just couldn't beleive someone could be this stupid :malebitchslap: His other "mods" include...Blue spray paint on the outside for paint(well thats what it looks like cause the blue isn't the same color anywhere), red wire looms over just about every wire and cooling line he could put one on, straight pipe all the way back(yeah it sounds like crap!), oh an you should see the "custom" interior...I think he glued half of his interior panels with velvet! :malebitchslap: !!! With all of those mods I figure he's got to be pushing like 400 HP!......or maybe not! Guy
Georgia Flash
LOL I call that growing pains. If I had the time I would scan you a pic of the 1973 Ford Pinto that I had for my first car. Yes I spray painted the hood with black paint, did some cool looking spray paint around the head lights (black) and painted some cool silver stripes below the doors (rocker panels). Now that was back when I was just a toddler in the automotive world and I would never do anything like that now. Hey wait I did use some spray paint on my rear suspension just the other day, lol. All I'm saying is yes some people do stupid things, but hey WE ALL do stupid things it's just important to learn from your mistakes. By the way my little Pinto was very fast when I painted the hood black and tinted the windows myself .......Not!
blueovalz
Pinto.........My very first car. It was a '73. The first thing I did was put headers on it, and a holley 390 with the infamous Offy "dual port intakes". I actually beat about half of all the small blocks (stock) that I ran against. Big stuff when you're 19.
dot
Pinto! That was my very first engine swap. 289 4 speed car with a mustang rear. What a joke. The motor sat so far ahead in the engine bay that there was no weight on the back wheels. I could smoke that snow tire for miles. The really sad part was that the $400, old donor car was a ’68 Mustang fast back in not all that bad of shape. I had scrapped the Bullit car.
