Jumbo240ez
Anyone got a line on some rear brake shoes? MSA has Ferodo AM4 "Green stuff" rear brake shoes $140.00 a set!?!? Any other vendors that offer these. I can't seem to find any. Thanks Jon
Synlubes
http://www.carbotecheng.com/main.htm Porterfield Racing Brakes (949) 548-4470 / outside CA (800) 537-6842 I`ve used both and like the carbotec shoes the best. Both are good companies to deal with.
evildky
sorry I have no help to offer, just kinda funny, I just read your post on GRM
Jumbo240ez
Yeah, I posted on Improved Touring also... gotta check all the sources! And thanks Doug... I'm having problems with carbotech's website so I guess I'll have to call them.
auxilary
for $140 for a set of pads, might as well do the rear zx disk swap like you planned!
Synlubes
Jon, If you do more track events than street driving, I would look for something bigger / better than the ZX swap. At least go with the 240SX stuff. IMO
Dan Juday
Jon, If you want to do the ZX swap I have a USED pair of calipers and rotors you can have for next nothing.
Jumbo240ez
Hey Doug, what are the concerns with the 79-81 ZX rear discs/calipers other than what looks to me like puny pads (and they are ugly as hell)? Jon Dan, don't you ever check your email?
Synlubes
Jon, IMO, they are to small to make any inprovement. Good race compound shoes with the drum brakes will give much more braking area than the ZX swap. Again just my opinion.
Jumbo240ez
Yes, the actual pad surface area is what has made me reluctant to switch. I can't find any specs on the carbotech shoes ie: cf or heat range. I can make some Hawk Blue pads work with the ZX calipers. At least the tracing dimensions show that removing a 32nd off the sides of the pads should work. Cooling would improve I think... Hell I don't know... wondering if paying for the maxima brackets is actually worth it.
DavyZ
Jon, try emailing Ross Corrigan at http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php for a line on those; perhaps he can get you a better price or can make some recommendations. Just a thought. Davy
Jumbo240ez
I got a line on the "Green Stuff" shoes for $20. a piece-- so $80. for the set. Those should get me through a few track days. I'll let you guys know how the rear disc situation works out. Jon
