gb5422
is the diff. in the 89 240SX an LSD ? Will it bolt into a 79 280SX R200 ?
Guest Anonymous
No, the '89 240sx r200 is not an LSD... Unless you have a Canadian model, or some crap like that. I've heard their 240sx's are pretty tricked out compared to ours. But yes, an r200 will pretty much fit on any Z car. There's a good write-up about this at http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html Just scroll down untill you find the part about diff.'s... If you're looking for an LSD, they can be pulled from any '87-'89 300ZX Turbo, and they're a 3.70:1 ratio. You should be lucky enough to find one at a local salvage yard, but make sure it's not a Limited/special edition Z; they came with Viscous LSD's which are no good for a swap(pain in the arse)! Mike C
The answer to that is yes and no. Some 240sx have a viscous LSD, but it has a different spline count than the clutch type or open r200. The SX is also a short pinion r200 and is NOT interchangeable with the earlier r200. Also, R200 made before 84 or so are 10mm ring gear bolts and the newer ones are 12mm. Clifton
Although not much help for you, US model 240sx's with HICAS have a viscous LSD. They are hard to find though.
