THUNDERZ
What should the timing be set at on a "built" L28 ? I have heard that should advance it till it pings under load and then back it off to the nearest non pinging position. Is this true? fl327
it is different for different cars, climates, driving habits, octane, temperature. stock is 8btdc i believe, start from there with 91 octane i think.
DAW
That's an empirical method that's been used for years. One thing is certain, stopping the pinging is a good thing no matter how you do it, but you might also try enrichenning the mixture, if you haven't done so, to get rid of the ping at a given timing advance because if you can leave the advance but get rid of the ping, allowing you to use the advance setting, performance and throttle response overall may improve. THUNDERZ
What is the maximum advance you can run on an L28?
JMortensen
Somewhere close to 35 total should be about right for max power. Maybe a few more degrees, maybe a few less, but right in that area. This should help: http://home.att.net/~jason510/dizzy_specs.htm
