Guest ON3GO
hey guys, you dont understand how happy i am right now. for you guys that remember when i 1st came here the whole idea for me building this Z was to build it with my dad. He has never been healthy, nor been able to do anything really with me. Now me and him are very close, and sense im moving to texas soon ive been feeling like shit beceause i dont want to leave him, and my mom also, and one of the reasons are i wanted to do this with my dad, but now its hard cuz lack of time... now just 20mins ago my dad came in my room, and he did something that was sooooooo cool, he told me he is paying for my motor!!!!! and whatever needs to be done to it. i was speachless for abit. Now to be all honest i dont want him to do this, as i have alot of plans for my motor setup, and im sure most of it is alot of money so im gonna make him pay for it all. He wants the motor to be re-built so i rather use aftermarket everything, and lots of porting work!!! also spoke to a few ppl and one swayed me toward the T04E turbo, and also a intercooler setup like TimZ (which is very nice). What do you guys think i should look into for injectors, and computer electronics? The car will be tuned for street use, NO race gas, and will be daily driven all the time. any other things i should look into? Zline told me that the 260Z radiator is good (he is always cool and helpful) but i was looking at the AZC one which is very nice, any others out there i should also look at? Thanks. Guest Anonymous
Congrats, I'm glad you're getting help. Sounds like this will be a good experience.
BRAD D
If you want the motor built for you you should call Sun Belt Performance Engines in Atlanta (770-932-0160). If you want to have a nice setup and have lots of $$$. How much dose your dad want to help? They do a lot of big power L6's. 240Z TURBO had his motor built there. it is good to 500hp I think. Or do you want to build it your self? As for ECU i would say SDS it is easy to use you can get big power from it and it dose not cost an arm and a leg, and people on this forum will be able to help you set it up. BRAD D
one more thing your Z looks good next to that Vett, but take that Ford F250 truck bumper off it J/K what are you going to do with the bumpers? Shave the rear and run a 240Z unit in front??
Guest ON3GO
yeah i need to take the only one bumper i have on it off. Ill be running Euro Bumpers both front and back. I cant let him spend alot of money, and no i wont be building it myself, i want to i think that would be fun but i dont think i have the time. im not going to let him spend more then a 1000, i mean a 1000 is alot of money for him to just give me, and i wouldnt feel good about myself. im thinking just finding a L28ET that needs pistons and etc, and just cleaning it up, new pistons, rods, valves, rings, maybe a cam, and some head porting. then ill buy a bigger turbo, injectors, fuel rail, and a Engine managment system abit after, you know just drive it around abit without a bigger bolt ons. any ideas on which pistons, rods and etc are not alot of money yet good? THANKS
BRAD D
If you race prep the stock rods they will be good for 500hp i think.

Guest ON3GO
no im working on a deal with a board member that he will find a motor, then install all the internals, and port the head.... all at the same time so its done quick and easier. Guest bastaad525
Congrats man I kinda know how you feel, I also finally worked out a deal with my long time friend/mechanic, who found me a 280zxt donor car and is gonna do the swap for me....... I've been so jazzed about it unfortunately it's gonna take me 2 mos to pay him all the money for him to get started, but hey I've been waiting for 6 years what's two more months gonna hurt I made my first big payment to him already so the stuff is officially mine....... man I can't wait to drop this motor into my '72 I can't really do much over stock at least for right now, just gonna aim for 200hp at the wheels on 10lbs of boost.... if I can get into 13's that will be plenty good for me for now, and knowing that there's so much more to be had ...... heheh...... well hey good luck with yours man sounds like with your dad backing you you may be able to build a real monster Z! Guest ON3GO
ya i just feel bad taken his money. my dad is super cool, and he really wants to do this for me but i just cant, not 100% of it. if he wants to buy the motor and the pistons and such thats fine, but im not letting him pay for the turbo, EMS, and everything else. goal is 350rwhp on pump gas, but i have a nitrous kit i wanna use, so the motor has to handle the 75 to 100 shot i wanna throw at it.
Guest bastaad525
if you're gonna build it up to put that much power AND handle the nitrous shot, why not just build it to put that total power out full time and skip the nitrous? Sell it to some ricer
Guest ON3GO
because i want the car to be very streetable, and be able to drive it everyday. with the nitrous ill only use it when i need to. i also just dont believe in Race gas for a street car, but i cant afford it hehe. Guest bastaad525
350hp in a 280z.... when would you actually need nitrous, I wonder........ heheh dont answer that

80LS1T
Your dad is driving a 2003 Z06 right? That car costs some serious $$$! I think he can handle the $1000 you want. Dont feel bad for him giving you that money, if thats the only way he can help then take the money and feel good about it and it will make him feel like he help you! Your just looking at this all wrong! Guy
Guest ON3GO
ya thats his 03' Z06... but he worked hard and took him his whole life to buy that car. (he is 56). i dunno, maybe ill just borrow a grand or two and pay him back. i dunno.
80LS1T
Well I think that if you dont take atleast some money from him, he will feel left out from your project . This is just his way of helping you and making himself feel like he helped you along with this project. Ya know what I mean? Guy
