Georgia Flash
Holy crap am I ever pleased with the way the Modern Motorsports rear disk conversion is going so far! I went to the local salvage yard and plucked me two 240SX calipers to go with my kit provided by Ross C. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pf27e4668c50e8ac3f29214d068a05330/fbe49af0.jpg I am going to try and post a few pics of what I have done so far, I hope the links work for you guys. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p4aa5ec9527abf12fce56017edab46af9/fbe49af3.jpg I will work on them a little more tomorrow when I get the overhaul kit for the calipers. The calipers bolt right up to the custom bracket just like they came that way from Nissan! Great kit Ross!!!!
Guest Your Car is Slow
This is next on my list of "To do" stuff!
Georgia Flash
Man I am telling you so far so good! I expected to have to do a little fabbing here and there to get the bolts to line up and so forth but it is a quality package! Everything fits like a glove! If you are going to do this go ahead and get the overhaul kit for the 240 calipers before you order the kit from Ross. That way when the kit comes in you can go ahead a get the used calipers from a salvage yard clean and paint and slap em on. The most difficult thing so far was removing the dust or backing plate for the old drum brakes. pita!! Once they were gone the rest has been easy. Georgia Flash
Ok I finished the passenger side of my brake upgrade including hooking up the emergency cable and guess what I found? It seems that with the new brake hardware my old crusty wheels now will not fit. I had been using an old set of Nissan 15in 240SX factory rims but it now scrubs the caliper. What rim size and off set do I need to finish out my sweet upgrade? Keep in mind I will want the same rims for the front which are stock. Come on guys I know someone else has done the swap and knows what advise to give. I also emailed Ross C. about the question. It is no big deal I had planned on getting new wheels anyway, just not right now.
Drax240z
Is it close enough that you can do a bit of grinding on the caliper to get wheel clearance? At least it would let you drive the car a bit before shelling out more $$$ for wheels.

Georgia Flash
Yes I have the stock 240SX calipers but remember the disks are from a 300ZX. So I would imagine that the stock 240SX calipers are in a little bit different place than would be found on a stock 240SX. Did that make any sense? Anyhow, I'm sure that Ross will be able to tell me what to do, I just thought that some of you folks had done this set up and had a little experience in getting the right wheel size. I think I may be going the Panasport rout myself.

Georgia Flash
I think they came off of a
Georgia Flash
Does anybody know what offset I need with these new brakes?
j260z
i don't think the offset changes because the disc should take up the same amout of space as the drum did.
DavyZ
Does anybody know what offset I need with these new brakes? Better give Ross a call just to make sure! Your setup looks fantastic! Did you use special caliper paint on the calipers or just regular enamel? Lookin' good! Davy
Georgia Flash
Davy, I used high temp engine enamel (ford blue) I got an email from Ross and he suggested 16x7 inch rims with 225/50/16's tires.
BARACU
I just completed my 75Z with Ross' front and rear conversion. I have Compomotive 3 pc wheels in 16x7 with 0 offset and 225-50-16 Hankook tires. Everything is a perfect fit with no rubbing and look great. I have Tokico shocks and suspension technique springs which lowered the car a bit, but no problems. You may have to "remove" the stock L bracket for the stock brake lines, that's welded to the frame. Mine were hitting the the e-brake bracket. Good luck on your project
Georgia Flash
Are you talking about the L bracket that you can see in my picture? Or the one down low near the stub axel? I removed the one down low it was bolted on. The one in the pic doesn't come close to the ebarake function unless I have done something wrong. BARACU
I'm talking about the one in the pic. Once I had the car on the road, I found it to be hitting part of the e-brake. In fact, it had bent the bracket. A few minutes with the Sawzall, solved the problem.Just something for you to keep in mind.
Georgia Flash
Gotcha, I will cut them off before I let the car down off the jack stands. I oredered some Panasport 16x7 wheels and Yokahama 225/50's today so I will get rid of them little rascals before I put the new rubber on. Thanks
