Guest Anonymous
450 H.P. SBC STREET WARRIOR CHEVY 350 STROKER ENGINE This is a complete engine (minus headers and carb) for 3000 dollars. Has anyone used this engine or have any suggestions on a better model engine? I have looked at Speedovision and paceperformance. Are there any other reputable companies someone could recommend? I am looking for the highest amount of HP to get out of an engine for 3K. The car will not be a daily driver, it will be mainly for dragging. I will be placing it in a 71 240z http://www.speedomotive.com/450%20H.P.%20SBC%20STREET%20WARRIOR.htm
grumpyvette
SPEEDOMOTIVE IS WELL KNOWN for good prices but the quality of the assembly has on occasion been somewhat less than perfect, and CAREFULLY CHECK THE PARTS LIST, 2 bolt block cast pistons no ballance job UNLESS THE FLYWHEEL/DAMPER are also purchased cheap cast rings, not moly faced cheap stock rods what your getting is a basic 383 with iron eagle heads and a cam upgrade not a bad deal for the price but not the killer racing engine you might think your getting either. THESE ARE ACTUALLY BETTER DEALS http://www.jonbarrett.com/383.php3 http://www.dallasexportsales.com/383sb.html http://www.built4speed.com/
Mike C
One of my best friends has a Typhoon. It blew up. He bought a GM crate motor with 3year 36k mile warranty and installed it himself. After about 2 years and 6 months, he was bopping down the road and minding his own business when POW!, one of the connecting rods left its happy home. It proceeded to break the pan rail, saw through the oil cooler lines and punch a hole in the aluminum case of the front differential. GM gave him a NEW motor. GM fixed ALL of the other damage. GM did ALL of the work at no cost to him. I'd seriously contemplate a GM motor unless max power is your only requirement.
Peternell
Just my $.02, better input from others should be considered. Complete is a relative term, but the "just needs headers and carb" phrase and hopefull $3,000 price limit also leaves out: 400 balancer, 400 flexplate, Distributor, Fuel Pump, Water Pump, Starter,Pulleys, Brackets, ...... From what I've read here the heads are pretty good, but I question using the shorter 400 (5.565") rods, even with ARP bolts and the cast pistons. Just my opinion - it's worth what you paid for it.
