DatsunBoy77
Ok i have a Holley 18 inch fuel rail i picked up but after comparing it to the stock fuel rail i had a thought that when i tap and put fittings in the sides, they will block the 1st and 6th injectors, starving them of fuel. The injectors would have to be right to the edge of the fuel rail and the fittings for the fuel line will go right over them. Anyone have any ideas to prevent this? DatsunBoy77
OK, here is a picture of Pallnet's fuel rail just as a visual for what i am saying. The fitting for the fuel hose on mine seems as though it will block the #1 injector. maybe i can just move # 1 and 6 injector hose fittings over just a bit and anlge them slightly so the wont kink going to the injector. I hope that clears it up a little better. Ryan
SleeperZ
What about running a 5/16" drill up the injector bungs on 1 and 6 once the end fittings are installed, to clear out any blockage from the fittings? I'm glad I made my own, using 24 inches instead of 18...
Guest Anonymous
hey, i just purchased one of these too. i tried to ask him if he had any tips.. do/dont's.. etc. and he just said "its all pretty much straightforward." and wouldnt go into detail on what precautions, etc. i should take. what year do you have? I have a '76 and it seems like it will mount up just fine. sorry to tap into your question like this, but we will hopefully get all of our questions answered at the same time. do we have to switch to AN fittings to hook these up? my fuel cell has AN fittings.. should I just switch now when I drop both in? Also, the screws on my injectors are stripped.. whats a good way to remove them? the metal is real soft so I am afraid to try anything right now. again, sorry to hijack your post, but i was about to create a new topic just now anyway. by the way, he has pictures with the fuel rail installed here is one from zcarcreations. also it says: It will be necessary to modify your existing steel supply/return lines and you will have to have a length of 5/16 high-pressure fuel injection hose available. DO NOT use standard 5/16 fuel hose.[/img]
SleeperZ
The stock is meant to be threaded with tapered pipe threads. What you thread into it is up to you. You can get pipe thread to AN adapters or pipe thread to hose barbs.
Guest Anonymous
is there any benefit of using AN fittings then? or is it just to look pretty? because.. they are about $7 a pop, and there are quite a few that would need replacing. so you are saying i don't have to run AN fittings from my fuel cell? that would be great... SleeperZ
I was just referring to the fuel rail. If your fuel cell has AN fittings, you will have to use them, unless it's tapped with pipe threads and you can replace the fittings with barbs. Since most stainless braided hose is AN sized, and you want to pass an NHRA technical inspection on your aftermarket fuel system, you pretty much have to use the AN stuff. Otherwise, just use the normal OEM stuff.

Dont angle the injector hose because it will eventually start leaking, since the injector itself will sit straight up once you attach it to the manifold. Guest z1 performance
looks pretty, but th stock design is far better IMHO.....
DatsunBoy77
Now the stock fuel hose is 5/16. Should i go up to 3/8 all the way back to the fuel pump? I am going to start tapping soon, and is there any recomendation on the size tap for the injetor hose holes? I know the actual line to the injector is 5/16 but should i use the same size hole or go larger?
