Guest Casey240Z Posted July 18, 2003 Share Posted July 18, 2003 Right now I have a carbed 350 with a turbo 350 trans. in my 240Z. I cracked the block on my 350 so I am going to swap LT1 and T56. So how much is the complete swap going to cost me? So far my list includes: LT1 and T56 $2500-$3000 Fuel line and pump ? Fuel Cell ? Pulley System ? Is there anything I am missing or do I need all the above? Thanks in advance and I am sorry if this type of question has been asked before. I searched but couldn't find anything. baddriver Posted July 18, 2003 Share Posted July 18, 2003 Well, there might be a few more details,.. I've been looking at this swap as well. In addition to what you've mentioned, I think you should consider the possibility of needing New headers, the LT1 has D-port heads. Or get the manifold with the LT1. Or the headers you have may work. The T56 will not drive the original speedo, so you might need an electic. The fuel cell will work, or you can have a sump welded to the bottom of your tank, or use a small resevoir. If you want AC, you need the brackets mentioned in the post a few subjects down from this. I think the T56 is a different length than the 350, so a new driveshaft may be needed (someone else here might know for sure) You may need to change your tranny mount, as well. Sorry I can't be more definate, but it really depends on what you have and how much of a perfectionist you are. If your engine compartment isn't already spotless, you might also have to consider the 'while I'm at it, i could just clean up a little,...change some bushings...add some power steering...little chassis stiffening....gee, that's a cool strut bar..... Tim240z Posted July 19, 2003 Share Posted July 19, 2003 Remember the wiring. That is a big part of swapping from carb to FI. You will likely be able to use your shaft, the splines are the same, and I believe that the length is similar, but my memory is failing there... If you don't have electric fans now, you'll need them. Tim, I do have an electric fan already. I was looking to get an Lt1 with wiring harness, what else is there for me to do? Tim240z Posted July 25, 2003 Share Posted July 25, 2003 I made a new electric panel to handle EVERYTHING. The wiring of the LT1 PCM is pretty easy, just time consuming. I threw out the entire stock datsun wiring harness throughout the whole car and started from scratch. At least I'll have new wiring and logical wiring.
