Guest bastaad525
for that matter what about the N/A ZX efi? did they come from the factory with a rev limiter? What is it set at?
SleeperZ
Don't know about the n/a ZXs, but my '82 ZXT ECU did. I hear the '81 did not, but I'm not sure.
Guest scottjuly79
My 82ZXT cuts out at around 6200rpm
Guest bastaad525
wow that low?? arent they redlined at 6500?? I'm thinking my n/a zx did because of a time that my throttle got stuck full open in between a shift..... the engine just WENT... in the few seconds it took me to realize what was going on and shut the car off, I just remember seeing the tach needle bouncing like crazy. I figure if there weren't a rev limiter the engine could have easily got up to more than 8k probably more... figure 3-5 seconds in neutral at WOT and it was at 5500rpm when I went to shift into 2nd, and I dont think the engine would have survived it... not w/o some reprecussions at least, but I drove that motor for three years and it was still near new, great compression all across, no oil loss no nothing... Cody 82 ZXT
The only time I found a rev limiter was in 5th gear at exactly 5500 rpms. No more go after that. That was with the factory computer I'm not sure if the one I have now does or not.
SleeperZ
The power peak is in the mid 5000 rpms. No reason to rev it higher than redline, except if you want to break it.
Guest bastaad525
.... um at what speed??? was it the EFI limiting the revs or the aerodynamics of your car, at that point
Mudge
Automatic rev limiter is 500 RPM less according to my reading (forget which manual).
Guest bastaad525
heheh trust me I dont want to rev it higher than redline... I'm thinking 5500 would be a good place to shift. Just was wondering, that's all.
Guest zpeedracer25
Is is also true that these have a built in governor in the computer that kicks in the rev limiter for a given MPH?
SleeperZ
Is is also true that these have a built in governor in the computer that kicks in the rev limiter for a given MPH? I never connected a speed sensor
