Im still looking for a 5 lug hub?

I guess Ill be heading to the junkyard.

Alright I don't think Ill be able to make a 12 inch brake rotor setup for the 280zx. Reason is there is little clearance to make an offset bracket for the caliper. The zx's aren't the same in the brake area as the early Z's.

What I can do is design a 13 inch setup for both z and zx's. plenty of room to work with giving me more upward room. I know you want more explanations as to why I cant make a 12 inch setup work on a zx but If i could I would!

What I am asking is if anyone would like to see a line of JSK affordable adapters for 13 inch brakes. Thats why I left this in the non tech section. Thanks again Juan

Good luck finding that hub. Every JY in the area dont have em. Lake Auto did and i was going back up to grab them, and they got rid of all the datsuns and the turbo 300zx sitting there with 5 lug. It really pissed me off. I asked what happened to them all and no one even knew. All the people that used to work there are gone. There are no old datsuns in the area anymore. I found some up near Rochester, but that is a long ride. I think some members had some for sale a while ago.

Two things:

1st, would the 13" setups fit a 16" wheel? I am planning my 82 ZX, and I want to use Z32 16" wheels.

2nd, this may be common knowledge to everyone else, but I just found out this weekend that all the 86+ 300zx's were 5 lug, not just the turbos. That might make your search alittle easier.

I dont think I can do it as a complete setup. Im trying to stick with the help yourself system and is working well. Keeps prices low with me just focusing on the adapters. I would purchase a 13 inch rotor and caliper to make final testing. I am also looking into a setup for 15 inch rims and Wilwoods. Just need to machine rotors down but wouldnt that leave less braking surface?

So far I am working on front brake setups. Once this is done Ill be going to the rears. All this while machining Fuel rails,TB spacers, and 300zx spacers. Its tough but glad to see I can help out. Okay Ill be working on these and will keep you posted on affordable 13 inch brakes Z and ZX!

Well I would be interested in the adapter for front and rear brakes for my 280ZX! With my 17's on its going to look goofy if I only have those tiny stock brakes, plus with the V8 in there I could use some more brakes power!

Keep us updated with the progress! Oh and how $much$ are we talking here for the adapters?

Hi Juan, I'm real glad that you seem to already be working on the ZX brakes. I can't tell you how badly I want them. And yes, 13" sounds great, specially since I have 17" rims. However make sure the set up works on 16" as well or you may not have enough people who can buy them. I already have money set aside for the kit, so please get it done soon (I'm not very patient when it comes to my toys  ).

Also the 240sx TB spacer kit you sent me is fantastic. Thanks

Thanks Afshin for being involved and excited about this. I have been pressured to come up with something and hope to by fall sometime. Oh I could have cleaned the TB but hey I think you got a good deal on it including the anodizing :).

Well I don't think I can control What size rim will fit. The rotor will be 13inch so add about .5 inch to that for caliper that'll give you the clearance needed across inner rim. Im hoping it will fit in 16's. Its out of my control though. Its too bad I cant get 12's in there. The zx strut gets in the way with my offset bracket. 13's would be the more cost effective way to go for me.Bracket can be made more simpler because of no needed angle. You'll like it.

Keep an eye on eBay for me where I will announce when it is ready to get going. I will have to get the rears done but be patient.

The nice thing about this you get your choice of calipers and pads. You can expect the adapter system to be under $300

My webpage is down for now and hardly updated. Ill be working on it over the weekend. I was going for a better look but havent seem to have time with that lately. enjoy your night Juan

man that stinks . I just found out the 13 inch rotors go for about 160 a piece. That doesnt effect the adapter cost but at that price it would cost between 850-1000 for the 13 inch setup. I would think that is an alright price but it makes me go towards finding a way to get the 12's in the zx. hmmm. Let me ponder and think about what I am going to do. Thanks

Juan, I think it will be worthwhile to look into fitting the 12" as you mentioned. It seems like the extra cost of making the bracket will be offset by the 12" rotors being so much cheaper. More importantly I think most people have 16" rims and would miss out on a potentially wonderfull and flexible brake upgrade kit. So we are with you, keep thinking about how you would offset the bracket to work with the 12 rotor. We appreciate your effort. Good luck and continue to keep us posted with your progress.
