Guest TK240Z
Hi, my car suddenly died and after that it would not run like before. The car was running pretty good before that. It won't idle anymore. However when I unplugged the maf sensor, it stays at idle just fine. Does this mean my maf is dead? My car is 240z with L28et and z31 eccs. I'm using entire wiring harness from z31. Thanks in advance for your help.
yo2001
Sounds like it's got MAF signal problem. Why don't you run the self diagnose off ECU? Then you can be sure. I think #21 is MAF code on Mode III
SleeperZ
Sounds like you just got a big vacuum leak, all of a sudden. If the MAF was bad, it wouldn't make a difference if it was hooked up or not.
Guest TK240Z
thanks for you guys replies. it's inretesting,, when I made a huge vacuum leak by disconnecting the intercooler piping just before the throttle body, it idled. And when I put the piping back, it died. I did eccs self diagnosis and didn't have a code for maf. I put a known bad maf and the eccs seemed to be in limp mode. I got a maf code #12 this time and then I could drive the car. i put my maf directly to the throttle body and it revved just fine. I didn't drive this way but it did rev up no problem. It stalled some times before it completely died. Any idea?
Bernardd
The idle voltage at pin B on the maf should be over 2.2. Make sure it's the same at pin 31 on the ecu. Pin B at maf should be 1.6 at key on. Double check your grounds at the maf. When you install the known bad maf, the car should run the same with it connected or disconnected. It should make no difference. If the maf is out of wack the ecu ignores it. Did you do any work on the car recently? BOV?
Guest TK240Z
Hi, I do have the BOV, but I've had it since first time the car ran. I have to move this car to 100 miles away by 2 days. I just stuck into the MAF from 80's maxima in front of throttle body and I could drive it. I hope I can take this car to 100 miles away no problem,, it's really slow because of lowered compression ratio I'll check the voltage at pin B. last time when I did it I belive i got 1.9 volts. According to manual that I have, it can be 1.6 +/- .5volts. Is this right? Thanks, TK
Guest TK240Z
I did install one vacuum line. It's from between the maf and the turbo to the valve cover. I really don't think this did anything to the system. thanks again, tk
