z-ya
Short story: I had these linear rate springs in my 72' 240Z, and the ride height was about 2" lower than stock. I took them out a few years ago and put in Eibachs for a smoother ride. A few of us in my local club are building a track car, and I had these springs, so we put them in. The problem is that the ride height is way too high (about an inch higher than stock). The club car is a 73' body, with 72' strut assemblies. We have Koni strut cartriges installed. Any help appreciated. Pete
Jwink25
Fill your car full of bricks. With enough weight you should be able to lower it to the right height.
johnc
Are they stock diamter springs? If so and you're not going with coil-overs on your club car then try cutting one coil out.
Tim240z
I remember hearing that the 280 strut top mounts are taller. Could it be that the car had those swapped in at some point? Tim
spdsk8r
I had that same problem with my 79 ZX. I replaced the stock springs/struts with MSA springs (suposed to lower it about 1") ant Tokico struts. My car sat about 1 1/2" higher than stock. Made it look like a 4x4. I ended up cutting a coil off each spring just to get it back to stock height.
72zcar
same prob with tokico "lowering springs" bought at msa. eneded up cutting 2 coils off front, 2 off the passanger side rear and 1 1/2 off driver side rear. (for some reason z always sat higher on the passanger side rear)... so this was my plan to even everything up.. even all right, perfect in the front but now the rear is tooo low. should have took off 1 coil driver and 1 1/2 passanger in the rear... crap. so now i swap in some 280z top perch part in the rear...bamm perfect. so the there u go if any of that makes sence
