Guest dmk2123
Anyone have any suggestions on how I would go about creating my own custom cold air intake for my 83 280zxt
johnc
Buy about 12" of 2.250" OD aluminum tube, an aluminum mandrel U bend of the same OD, some silicone hose, hose clamps, and start cutting and welding.
Guest dmk2123
That's not nearly enough, On my 83 280zxt the pipe now has a OD of about 3.8"

SleeperZ
My turbo benefitted from a larger intake. Stock size is 3" OD. I ran a flexible hose from the MAF to a K&N mounted up front. I'm now running a 3-1/2" intake, but my MAF is in an intake pipe that size. BTW, the factory intake is a cold air intake.
johnc
That's not nearly enough, On my 83 280zxt the pipe now has a OD of about 3.8" The diameter was a guess on my part. Just make sure the ID is equal to the ID of the MAF. Remember, intake and exhaust velocity is more important then any tube diameter.
