Nismo280zEd
ok so i did a search and come up with nada. I'm looking for a proper way to paint over chrome if any? Ivory paper scuffing it up then paint like normal or? I want to paint the door handles the same color as the car, but don't want it flaking off. David K
me too. the previous owner of my zx blacked out the stainless strips. I need to re-apply paint, as its looking real bad with scratches and dings.
Guest Aaron
I read once that you can sand chrome with 150 grit sandpaper before applying primer. You may have to sand the primer with something finer (320 grit) if you can see scratch marks in the primer, then paint.
icice9
I THINK THE BEST WAY IS GETTING IT POWDER COATED...

Guest midnitz
that depends on the powdercoater....I had a few things matched.....but the only way to paint previously chrome surfaces is to bead blast them to expose the nickle...then scuff smooth and shoot the epoxy primer and then paint....or bead blast and powder coat.... ever think of doing black chrome? Sparky
There is a guy in San Anotonio that does "midnight" or "black" chroming. alamo plating. this was a couple years ago last time I checked, but from my info his business is going strong. If not, im sure there are plenty of platers in mexico that can do it. Dont know if I would trust them though.
