zguy95135
actually my dad wanted me to ask. When he first go this 280 2+2 he replaced the rubber shift boot because it had a hole and it was REALLY HOT inside the car. Its been a few years and its always been consistently hot inside. could it be a blocked up cat. converter, old heat and sound deading or were they always just hot inside? Also does the car really need the heat sheilding on the exhaust or does it just contribute to the problem? i dont mean hot as in no AC i mean soul soaking heat. David K
The exhaust pipe is tucked right up in the tranny tunnel.
zguy95135
does the heat shielding make the car hotter by letting more heat out? Am I completely off base here?
David K
It bounces heat off the underside of the car and keeps the majority of it from entering through the underbody into the cabin.
240Z_Master
Find some temporary solution and then in two years (2005) you can just get the cat removed and do a straight through exhaust. Since 30 year old cars don't have smog regulations in CA. My 71 is no smog
brokebolt
Ya my Z is an oven as well, especially with no interior to keep the hear off the floor boards from spillling in. I wrapped my 20 year old headers with 2 inch heat wrap. Made a big difference in both sound and heat. I then did the same to my bike as the right leg was always hotter the left one. Also big difference in sound and heat. On my car I'm running dual 2.5 inch from the headers to a 3.5 inch Y just behind the third member and end it with a 3.5 inch Supertrapp. I've considered Jet hot coatings but mild steel that old is like paper thin.
