Ron, there is no BBC kit for the Z. I suggest you use the search function and get as much info from the other BBC members as possible. You might want to email them too. Welcome to the board!

One thing I have learned from being involed here at Hybrid is that if you want to do it it can be done. You will need to fab you own mounts, maybe modify the firewall. It will take alot more time than following the JTR book and ordering prefabbed parts but then you would be the guy others look for to the same question that you have posted.

Search the form for fastest street car or something like that. there is a posting either under motorsports or non-tech that shows & talks about a guy running a big block in a 240Z running in the 9's.

You mean that pink (excuse me - Coral) Z with the tubbed rear end and Ford 9", full roll cage, and wheelie bars? I've seen pics of that one, and it was indeed fearsome, even if it looked like a Mary Kay car gone wrong.

In the Chevy V8Z Tech Forum under SACRAMENTO V8 Z driver wanted, the first reply post is by " racerzs". His wife is the race driver of his 73 240Z with a 502 BB Chevy. He has a video link to her 9.35 run. She ran a 9.22 near the end of OCT. His site has lots of info on the car and its history...... http://www.ratsun.com LARRY

There are around 6 BBC-powered Z's on this list. The ex-pink drag car mentioned earlier belonged to Ron Jones; I believe that he recently sold it. Another example was a blown, deep blue-colored drag car, which (as far as I recall) has been converted to a small block after changing owners. "Ratsun's" Z is probably the most storied big-block car on this site.

 

And then there's my 280Z, with a 454 from a '78 Suburban. It's probably the only non-drag car with a big block, and the only one with a stock rear suspension. A somewhat out-of-date but lengthy description is available on pparaska's site. The car briefly ran in the summer of 2000, but has been off the street ever since, with engine trouble. This fall/winter I'm finally getting around to rebuilding the engine.
