80LS1T
I tried posting a couple of days ago but got only one response and sorry to say but the website provided was not much help. (but thats for repling ) I have a 93 LT1 that I want to rebuild. I am looking for 400HP-450HP at the flywheel. So nothing to radical. I also want to be able to add a 75HP-150HP shot of nitrous. Can someone guide me to a website that sells a complete kit? All I keep getting is 2 piece rear main seal kits. Thanks
grumpyvette
look this stuff over, the lt1 needs a better cam and headers as a first step, then the next thing Id do is go for a stroker crank and pistions to bring up the displacement and compression, http://www.flatlanderracing.com/index.html Main >> Stroker Kits >> Chevrolet >> Small Block Engine >> 350 Block/ 383 cu. in. Forged call CRANE FOR THE CAM,and if you can afford them AFR makes nice ported LT4 heads, heres a much better intake, but without the ported AFR heads and a stroker kit its wasted money http://www.c-zone.net/markm/hogans/ http://home.tir.com/~steveher/lt4.html http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/ar99928.htm http://www.thunderracing.com/ http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~mjr2/cars/supernatural/ http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/7610/dyno.htm
Guest Power_Slave
avoid the LT4 heads. Not worth it. Just get the 190cc AFRs. They are the best street head for the money. Need a lot of hogging out to flow well though. At least if you want 280cfm+. Even stock AFRs port matched to the LT1 intake, a CC306 (as aggressive a cam you should get for a street EFI car) and long tubes should put you above 450hp easy. I am at about 400rwhp with stock ported LT1 heads and a mild cam + tubes. You dont need a bottom end rebuild to go after the modest numbers you are looking for. grumpyvette
Power_Slave YOU CANT use standard 190cc AFR heads on a REVERSE COOLENT FLOW ENGINE BLOCK like the lt1 . the AFR LT4 heads are the BEST flowing heads available for the LT1s reverse coolent flow block. the LT1 intake and and heads are not the same or interchangeable with standard flow heads
80LS1T
Thanks for all the info. guys! Hey, Mike C. I just thought since they didnt have any info on their website that they didnt have anything for what I needed. So what I need to do it port my heads, get a decent cam and get some tubes? Thanks again!
Mike C
Pick up the phone and make a call. Like I said before, Northern cam help you out, but later model stuff isn't what ANY rebuild companies specialize in. It's easy to get spoiled to the web thing, but they do have an 800#. Most guys here with LT1 have bought low mileage wrecks and haven't need to r&r their short blocks.
