mc
.....i've given up looking for a clean early 240 car[N.Y.C. rusters] to do my first v8 conversion.....but have just come across a no rust 73 AMX with a blown engine. Anyone know how similar the engine mounts are to swap in a Chevy small block and 200r-4????Thanks, Mike
Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
I think AMX's are typically candidates for Mopar swaps. Might want to check out those mounts.
Mike kZ
I've seen many Chevy engines in AMC cars, It shouldn't be hard. You need to go south to buy a good 240Z.
z-REX
oh, you can find a solid early z around here... just not cheaply or easily.
EvilRufusKay
I had a '71 AMX Javelin with a 390. The thing kicked A$$!! Why bother with a chevy? Just rebuild the original motor. The car would be worth much more in the long run and you would still get good horse power. The AMC motors of the time used a bunch of chevy parts so mods/upgrades are pretty easy. Good Luck!! mc
....its only because making power with a Chevy drivetrain is cheaper and info is everywhere......adapting the AMX to the overdrive trans would be cool.

OK, so it will be cheaper, but that car will be worth more with an AMC 401 tucked in there--sweeeeeet! Davy
