280zx rear suspension caster camber mods?

Is there a good way to mod the rear suspension on a zx? Obviously rear camber plates up top won't do anything since the struts float down below. And the trailing arms are at a funny angle. So offset hindge points would be awkward. Thanks.

Unless you enjoy mechanical challenges, this would be too complicated to try, but I believe the old 510s that were raced had some kind of serated plates the were used to adjust camber, which were located on the arms themselves. You might try looking up some old 510 tricks.

As Jon said there is a kit MSA sells. It allows up to 1.5 degree of rear camber and up to .75 deg of toe adjustment. I just got the kit last week and it looks nice (have not installed it yet). I know the kit works, but you can't always change both the camber and toe fully independent of each other. JeffP use the same kit on his monster 280ZXT and is happy with it, here is a link to his setup including a picture of the kit assembled on the car.

This along with new rear poly bushings should do wonders to correct the toe (which is often off in the ZX), specially under load and eliminate the excessive play in the ZX's rear semi-trailing arm set up.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve, if you lower the ride hieght you will get negative camber anyway.

For toe in caster adjustment you could adapt the inside adjusters off a Z31.

If retaining standard ride height you can increase negative camber by altering the angle of the trailing arm main support by by putting a wedge under the 4 diff mounting bolts.

Always get your alignment checked by proffesional aligners after any alteration otherwise you will just waste a good pair of tyres.

Good luck, Neil.
