slownrusty
Hi Gang - I took some time this last weekend to start ripping out my stock fuel rail and injectors and do some upgrades. The following are new parts going in: 1) 6 new plastic injectors blocks (all my original ones were cracked!) 2) New JSK fuel rail tapped for fuel pressure gauge 3) New Aeromotive FPR (Part Number 13109) 4) All new braided Earls lines with Earls fittings I made a new bracket to mount the Aeromotive FPR on the fire wall lip, which did not take too long. Here of course is the stock (before) set-up: Afte spending a few hours to remove everything. Pulling everything out was very straight forward and no major headaches: My new Aeromotive FPR: OE fuel rail vs the very cool JSK unit (thanks Juan): I then spent a few hours polishing the new JSK rail....came out pretty nice, after some elbow grease: Gotta love the Tabasco sauce for that mirror image flavor! More updates to come, I would have had it all completed this weekend but had some "honey-do's" that had to be done Regards - Yasin
SleeperZ
If you want to drag race, don't mount the FPR on the firewall. Exploding clutches and flywheels tend to take them out with serious fire hazard. I mounted mine near the old fuel filter location. What injectors are you using? I didn't see any barbs on that pretty rail.
Guest Looking for apt in Alb Ny
Yasin very nice man! I know it may sound funny but I never polished anything before and its a shock to see my fully CNC rail polished. I tried sitting down trying it but I think I have ADD. You are 1 of only 3 people to own that rail. Juan
Guest Looking for apt in Alb Ny
Hi Nathan You scare me when you say exploding clutches and flywheels. I want to keep my right foot at least to play kick ball with my kids(non now but someday probably). How often does this happen? What are some precautions to keep this from happening. Is there a secpfic clutch that does this?Im seriously asking and its not a joke question. Thanks Juan
slownrusty
Thanks Juan! One of three - wow, so is tis going to be a collector's item like some of Carrol Shelby's parts a few decades down the road! When I get it all installed I will post some more pics for sure. Polishing the rail was not too bad, just takes time and it is hard work. Talk soon! Yasin

Thanks Juan It can happen with any high-horsepower car, and manual transmissions are the most scary because of the heavy flywheel. Pretty sure Norm the 12 second SU dude had one go on him. I don't know of anyone else with a Z specifically, but that's the reason for the NHRA regulation about not mounting fuel system components on the firewall (and also the use of braided fuel lines..) datsunlover
"exploding clutches and flywheels" are the reason there are 'scater sheilds' Basically a think/heavy steel bellhousing to protect the driver/pasengers legs if things go wrong. A know a guy who had a 79 camaro w/400+ HP and a 4 speed. Used to go and street race on the back roads late at night, and lost the clutch/flywheel on a launch. Lined up, put it in first, dropped the clutch at 3000RPM.... and BOOM! it went right out the passenger side floor/firewall. He got a scatter shield after that incident!.
