240Z Turbo
Hoovers car has a billet bottom end and 8.5-1 or so cr, motec, custom everything, and the almightly garret gt2530 or maybe even bigger by now. FYI, a GT2530 is very small. It is a GT25 turbo that flows 30lb/min or about 325hp max. Those are HKS designations for the GT stuff. Check out this link on the GT stuff. http://www.turbofast.com.au/GTseries.html
Guest exahertz
An '83 280zx already comes with an L28E correct? so an L28et should be an easy swap right? Would I just need a longblock and an IC or would a motorset be needed. Everything should drop right in, but I figure an exhaust upgrade would be wise. How much would this swap cost (with intercooler and piping)? where can I find this engine. Thanks, Matt
Guest Boyd
Click http://bellsouthpwp.net/b/o/boyd3852/MVC-315F.JPG for a pic of the 2.5" mandrel bent IC piping and large Spearco I mounted in my '77. The car ain't pretty, which makes it even more fun when I rip away from a redlight like somebody stole it.

Thanks, Matt[/quote'] The exhaust is different (it dumps in a different place) , the fuel pump is different, the AFM is different, and the ECU/wiring harness is different. Swap all that, with a complete[/b engine (injectors, distributor, intake, turbo, oil pan and oil lines), you should be good to go. It's helpful to have an entire turbo car to part out. Guest exahertz
I believe a clip should solve the wiring harness, ecu, and AFM problems. Won't the fuel pump and intercooler w/ piping be there too? I would probably look for an old 280zx turbo exhaust to solve that problem. Are you running on stock internals @ 16psi and what is the L28et dyno at stock? Thats a hell of a track time for Denver. Seems like a turbo is almost a must there to make up for the lack of oxygen. What did your swap end up costing you and where can I find a turbo clip? I bought a donor, running but bent, for $750. I've not heard of folks sourcing Jspec S130s - probably because it's gonna cost a lot more. The S130 turbos never had intercoolers, that's custom. The fuel pump should be upgraded first anyway, the factory pump isn't very good. Don't know what a stock S130 turbo puts down, probably about 150rwhp. Yes, I'm running a bone stock engine, with an upgraded turbo, fuel system, exhaust and intercooler. And yes , turbo rules up here in the clouds - V8s don't know what hit them. And I can't really say what the whole deal cost me, I've had the car 12 years, turbo'd 6 of those years. Just to run the time, I'd say I've spent $5000. Guest Rusty260z
So obtaining 250-300rwhp reliably wouldn't be that hard to attain?? I'm restoring my 260 to make it a daily driver....would like the L28et and it do a lil more than stock....but will only have around 2-2.5k to spend on the engine. Thats with everything else complete though....brakes, rearend, suspension, body, interior..etc. So after all is said and done I should have the 2.5k to throw on the engine...and right now thats the one thing I can't decide on....will I be able to do the L28et...or should I look at just carbing and building a L28 maybe w/ some spray. I know for my money it can be done...but what level of reliability and around what kind of power am I looking at? Thanks for any help.
