I've always loved the Lotus inspired cars. You probably could have built one for cheaper than your Z :P

I've got an article of one in my kitcar magazine that's powered by a DOHC 4 cylinder Ford engine and it is a screamer.

do you know who sells kits so i can use the 1300 motor? just like that one i posted.

Take your pick, there are dozens of manufacturers that make Lotus 7 style kits. There are also a lot of Lotus 7 inspired kits that are similar, but have their own style (like the Diva Roadster).

If I can find my kitcar magazine, I will give you a couple places to check out. Most of the manufacturers I wouldnt trust their work. If you want to find a bodystyle you like, go to http://www.kitcars.com (have to have the www) and search for Lotus 7. (Or you might even find some on there that you like more, like this one http://www.indystreetcar.com).

If you decide to go for a kit car, let me know, I have done my research on a lot of the companies because I was going to get a kit car before I got my Z. If you find one you really like, the best thing to do is contact the mfr and tell them you want to come to their build site and ride in one of their cars. If they wont let you, you probably want to think twice about buying from them.

Mike,

I've got about two years of experiance with these "7" style cars, including a ground up resto on a real series one Lotus seven, and a build up of a megabusa8. http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/megabusa.htm'>http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/megabusa.htm

check out the book "build your own sports car for 250"pounds"" by Ron champion. It gives you step by step, as well as complete and detailed blue prints on how to build these things.

hyabusa

B18

and many old cosworth four bangers.

feel free to drop me a line anytime about these little things, I have detailed pictures of assembly on all aspects of the westfield cars, as well as direct ties to the factory in the UK.

wow a SR20, that would be cool.

if i do build one of these (my dad is dead set on building a kit car) its got to have a sport bike engine, something about that high RPM's that i love.

ill deff keep you in mind though..

thanks man

The shop I used to work for is the only dealer for the westfield cars in the western hemisphere. our first built was a megabusa 8 in full carbone fiber... it uses a six speed sequential gear box for the bike adapted to the RWD config....the great thing about it, was that you had 6 FWD gears...and 6 Reverse gears! TopGear in the UK did test on a megabusa8 and set a record for the fastest speed ever recorded in reverse... something like 127 MPH!

also...check out the rest of his site.....must be very nice to have all those toys..and all that money...

Sparky... what would we be getting our selves into in terms of money by building one of these.

also do i have to buy a complete kit from them or could i get them with less : seats, wheels, brakes, and stuff like that?

also im guessing i dont need very wide rear tires on that thing.

i want one so bad..
