Guest cap110680
well i dropped the engine and trans on saturday. it was pretty easy, considering it was my first time. anyway, it seems like the engine is slightly angled. i measured from valve cover to firewall on both sides and they are almost 1.5" off. but it looks like the trans is pointing down the middle. (i am using the jtr kit BTW) i slotted the crossmember like they said to do but only about .5" so i dont see how it could be so far off. thanx in advance for the help, later chris
blueovalz
Not from the bow-tie crowd here, but the Ford V-8 has one head (and cylinder bank) offset from it's opposite side by about the same amount.
Tim240z
My driver's side valve cover base is 0.5 inches farther away from the firewall. Tim
Dan Juday
You're cool Chris, That's just the natural offset of the heads. That's due to the fact that the eight connecting rods share four journals. Congrats on getting the motor in. Now the real work begins! silicone boy
i dropped the engine and trans on saturday. it was pretty easy, considering it was my first time. Intimidating at first, but remarkably easy after the fact, isn't it? So why ain't I up and running yet?
Guest cap110680
thanx guys, i feel like an idiot. after looking at it a couple more times i realized that the heads were offset. it was an optical illusion and it still looks crooked to me but i am pretty sure its right. i guess i will be able to tell for sure when the driveshaft goes in. thanx for putting up with a newbie. later, chris
Mikelly
Chris, Welcome to the club... First Hybrid I built was the same way... I stood there scratching my head and then, like a light switch, it flicked on and I remembered the stagger from the rod journals!
