ToplessZ
Ok I searched and am probably asking a dumb question but couldnt find the answer. If using the same trans in a z and zx would the drive shaft be the same length. This is on a regular l6 engine. With the starion trans upgrade. But the driveline length would be the same for any trans just need to know if its the same between first and second gen cars or if I need to save up some bucks for a custom one. Thanks guys
Pop N Wood
I know there is a 35 mm difference between the early 240's and later 240's due to the differential mounting. I think it was in mid 72 that they remounted the diffs. Beyond that I think the shafts for the Z cars are the same. Don't know anything about ZX's. JMortensen
The ZX is a totally different chassis. I don't think they are very close in length at all. It's been a while since I tore apart my last ZX parts car, but I would swear that they were a LOT longer. Sorry to give you a non-answer answer to your question, but I think you're barking up the wrong tree if you're trying to switch from one driveshaft to the other. spdsk8r
If I remember right (old age senility is starting to set in) on the two 280 Z conversions I did, the drive shafts were about 20" long with Turbo350. On my ZX with 700R4 the driveshaft is 24".
