Schlasken
i`v have made arrangements with a guy thats going to build a rollcage in my Z. but i`m not quite sure about how i want it. have been thinking alot about making it like the cage in rc's240z`s BRE replica. but i need some opinions on it the car is going to be street driven but with alot of trackdays and possibly some racing later on. i dont care about how practical it is becouse its not going to be daily driven. i really want the cage to go thru the firewall and connect to the front strut towers. if anyone have pictures of some nice cages that would be great

auxilary
Look for "How to hotrod and race your datsun", it will have excellent pics of proper BRE rollcages in it, and tell you how to tie them into the frame

rc's240z
Schlasken, I will get out and take some photos this next weekend, and look through my flies at the photos that have not been posted. Your question regarding the main hoop: Well it is a direct copy of the BRE racing roll bar with some additional support added. the main hoop and serveral bars are all 120 wall DOM tubing and should be very strong. I hope I never have to test it If I was looking at maximum strength for the chassis, I would look to tie the main hoop to the floor, and have dual crossbars in an x shape that attach to the top of the strut towers to the outside corners of the main hoop. I hope this helps Ron By the way just wait till you see my car with original American Racing Lemans wheels
katman
If you want to race later on as you say then it would behoove you to read the rules for whatever santioning body you think you'll be racing for. Try http://www.izzyscustomcages.com/ZCageArticle.html to start.
heavy85
How can I get that article so the font is big enough to actually read? I tried saving the images then opened them and zoomed in but it was all grainy and unreadable (except for the first page?). Boy I wish I could find my old Z-Car magazines 'cause I remember reading this the first time around. Cameron

DaleMX
Just click on the thumbnail. http://www.izzyscustomcages.com/images/Cages/ZcarCage1.jpg If you still cant read them then I can download them and increase the contrast. Dale
auxilary
Wait, I have that whole article scanned, probably in better quality. I'll check when I get home.
heavy85
Clicking on the thumbnails just makes it one grainy page instead of all together but once I clicked on the thumbnails a nice little box appears on the bottom right hand corner of the screen which I previously missed. If I hit this 'expand' button it zooms in to where it's readable. Thanks Cameron
